Submission Information

As the festival has a limited staff and budget and reviews hundreds of films each year, we have a strict policy on submissions. Our policy is for interested filmmakers to email the information listed below to submissions@hrw.org We will accept submission emails for the 2009 season beginning September 1, 2008. Submissions will close on December 10, 2008. The dates for our London festival are 18-27 March, 2009, and our New York festival will take place June 11-25, 2009.

Please do not send attachments - include all relevant information in the text/body of your email. All relevant information means the following:

  • Director's name and film's title
  • Film synopsis and filmmaker bio
  • Country and year of production
  • Film's running time and format
  • Complete contact information

All emailed submissions will be reviewed by the festival committee. The committee will contact you if they are interested in screening a DVD copy of your film. Unsolicited films will not be considered for the festival. Submissions are only accepted for our London and New York festivals. Our Traveling Festival is not open to unsolicited submissions.

The festival does not charge any fees for submissions. If your film is considered for the festival be advised we do not return DVDs. The festival does not send out rejection letters. We will contact those filmmakers whose films are accepted to participate in the festival.
